Hi there,

I would like to introduce someone very important in my life. It’s someone who has been with me on my adventures ever since we first met back in late 2022. The relationship grew stronger when we started travelling together early 2023 to the point, we became inseparable.

We’ve been on many adventures together. There are so many stories to tell, I don’t even know where to begin. That’s why I decided to share the stage and let someone else do all the talking for once.

And for those who are a bit lost about who I'm talking about: it's the Yellow Cup who will take the stage every now and then!

As mentioned before, my yellow cup has been along for the ride ever since I bought it back in 2022 and has been most loyal companion all my adventures ever since.

This little cup has been the holder of my chais for almost 2 years now and I couldn't love it more.

The Yellow Cup will be sharing funny, whimsical, but also real and vulnerable stories about me and how I go about my day-to-day life.

So, without any further ado, I’m introducing The Tales of the Yellow Cup.

***Domi passes the microphone/keyboard to the yellow cup now***

Hi there,

I’m the yellow cup, but you can call me YC. I’ve been Domi’s side kick for nearly 2 years now. There have been others before me:

  • the blue-gold-ish cup.

  • the army green cup.

  • the glass jar, who's actually a new addition to the family and exclusively holds cold drinks such as smoothies and therefore isn't considered a threat to our connection because she doesn't drink a lot of smoothies, especially compared to her chai consumption.

That being said, you know as well as I do, she has never been so great at committing and most relationships in her life have been pretty much fleeting anyways.

So, if you really think about it, this is the first long-term commitment she has managed to make and keep in the past 15 years.

But let’s keep her love life out of this first chapter. There’s PLENTY to share about that later.

(If you know, you know, wink.)

Two friends holding keep cups
Domi on an adventure with a friend who's holding my twin in her hand. This was right before we were introduced and her life changed forever 💛

On the rare occasion she forgets to bring me on her adventures or forgets to wash me (which, luckily, doesn’t happen often) she’ll have to drink her chai from a single use cup. SINGLE USE. Iew.

Aside from all of that, I know where her head is at and what she’s thinking all the time, so I can assure you I have a lot of interesting stories to tell.

And, God, does she think a lot.

Anyways.

I’ll finish this introduction with the first story about Domi who had a chai at the local coffee cart, Jimmy's, this morning:

She seemed distracted for the past few days. Not grounded connected with her body at all.

It always seems to help her to on a walk with a chai. She’s started doing this during the COVID times and it has always managed to calm her down, quiet her mind, and uplift her mood.

She has grown a lot since then. Like a LOT. She’s really taken off on a journey of self-growth and development. A journey she's still on and will be forever.

So, anyways, this morning I felt like she was slowly getting out of a couple of hazy days where she felt like she drifted away from herself and her inner joy.

I’m not entirely sure what was going on in that mind of hers as she shut herself out from the world, and even from me, but during that walk things started to loosen up again. She went for a run this morning, which must have helped too.

She’s not running for the sake of getting better at running or anything. She just likes to have that moment of movement early in the morning so she can tick something off the list and allow herself to sink in a day of daily chores like doing laundry, prepping meals, buy groceries, and all of that. All of which she did today, by the way.

It makes her feel like she has achieved something.

But it usually doesn’t make the feeling of being a little lost and feeling lonely go away entirely. It makes that feeling just hide for a little bit. She knows this uneasy feeling will fade away eventually, though. She is very in tune with her own and nature’s cycles and finds comfort in the thought that everything comes and goes in waves.

I think that’s why she takes me to the beach so often.

She is not a big swimmer, and she doesn’t surf either. But, boy, does she love to be at the beach. Near the ocean. She feels connected with it.

When I was bopping around in her bag on our way to the beach, I felt that her mind was full and cluttered. It took some quiet and a breath of fresh air to clear it up before she realised, she hadn’t thought of putting her airpods in by the time she arrived at the coffee truck. That gave her a calming feeling because she realised, she doesn’t need to have something external playing in her head to quiet down her thoughts all the time. She can do it herself merely by walking and appreciating nature. It’s almost sweet how overwhelmed she sometimes gets by simple things like seeing a cute dog or a teeny tiny snail on the sidewalk.

After she filled me up with a nice and spicy chai with honey, she continued her journey to the beach. It’s almost the same walk every time we go to Jimmy’s. She might turn into a different street every once in a while, but we usually end up at that one bench overlooking the ocean. It’s her happy place.

At least for now.

And that’s where I am going to finish this first tale.

I wish you joy and warmth (in a non-single use cup 😉).

Xoxo, The Yellow Cup
