Pt. 7 Getting Ruby Ready for the Road 🛠️
I just wanted to show you guys how I got Ruby ready for the road in 3 days. Before I started working on it I researched on YouTube for a little bit. I stumbled upon this girls on YouTube who made a video about how she converted her SUV into a little home on wheels in 2 hours for under $60 (USD). I was intrigued and also convinced I could do this.
If there's anything I hate, it's doing HOUR LONG research about anything. I just need one simple solution and that's what I'll work with. This has been a trend throughout my entire life and it usually works out pretty well.
So, for this design I was going to make 2 platforms of the same size. One platform would be drilled together and the other platform would be bolted together so it's easy to disassemble.
The only thing is: I don't have any carpentry experience and I don't own any tools and unfortunately my dad, who's a carpentry genius, lives on the other side of the world.
So, I asked 2 friends to help me out. One friend helped me with the shopping (mostly for lifting and pushing the trolley and stuff) and loaned me his drill and another friend helped me putting the platform together.
Once I made these arrangements the start of the build could officially start and the process looked a little like this:
Day 1: SHOPPING
Day 2: DRILLING
Day 3: FINISHING TOUCHES
I went to Bunnings to get the materials on a Sunday we put everything together on Monday. Then I did some tweaking here and there for one more day. I made window blinds, put the rest of my stuff in there, and put fairy lights up.
That's it.
3 days of work.
And this is the process AND the end result:
